The Office of the Vice President and Basic Counsel gives authorized counsel and representation to Johns Hopkins College and all its colleges, divisions, affiliates, and associated entities on a broad range of authorized issues affecting the College. OGC supports the mission of the School by offering authorized recommendation and counsel, serving as the School’s authorized representative in litigation, administrative issues, and transactions, and retaining and overseeing outside counsel engaged on behalf of the College.
Constant always with the mission and pursuits of the College, we attempt to be drawback solvers; to have interaction in strategic considering with our shoppers; to defend the pursuits of the University and its constituents; to guard and promote the integrity of the College; to observe preventive law; and to assist the College’s trustees, officers, faculty and staff to perform their institutional targets.
Please observe that only the OGC is permitted to retain Outdoors Counsel on behalf of the College. The litigators and counselors also advise agency enforcement officers on pending compliance points and evaluate certain warning letters despatched to firms and individuals believed to have violated the FDCA or associated legal guidelines.
The workplace interacts with and gives authorized counsel to the University through its Board of Trustees, president, and all ranges of the administration in quite a few areas, together with governance, enterprise, employment, contracts, analysis, pupil affairs, growth, data expertise, worldwide affairs, intellectual property, development, grants and collaborations with external entities.
The Office of the Common Counsel is organized on the model of a small regulation agency. Prior to her appointment at Yale, Deborah served as an Associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. Karen joined the University’s Office of the General Counsel in 2013.
