The College Counsel represents the College on all authorized matters. We’re a dedicated group of authorized advisors, counselors and professional staff committed to serving our clients by facilitating artistic and collaborative solutions. Early 13c., from Previous French counseil (10c.) “advice, counsel; deliberation, thought,” from Latin consilium “plan, opinion” (see session ). As a synonym for “lawyer,” first attested late 14c.

These include advising Faculty officers on regulatory compliance and different legal points of their duties; representing the School in litigation before federal and state courts and administrative agencies; advising on points involving risk management; making ready and negotiating contracts between the School and different entities; and representing the Faculty in business transactions.

Previous to her appointment at Yale, Arabella was in-house counsel at Bridgewater Associates, an Associate at Hogan Lovells, and in-home counsel at the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences. The Office of the General Counsel serves as legal counsel for Lehigh College, its Board of Trustees, officers, schools, and academic and administrative departments.

Since ISSS has expertise in immigration and related institutional issues, ISSS will display the purposes ready by the approved exterior immigration counsel to make sure that every utility accurately represents the College. Securing and coordinating the providers of outside authorized counsel when vital for litigation and issues requiring legal specialization.

Counsel means recommendation (usually legal recommendation), and to counsel means to advise. His work is concentrated within the College’s Investments Workplace. The OGC has duty for all legal issues affecting the College. Caroline joined the College’s Office of the Normal Counsel in 1990.
